YOU DO YOU

Today is the earliest I’ve woken up since I started sheltering in place on March 16th.

I decided to start the day with a question: What do I love about myself today?

And an affirmation: I love my ability to adapt and create my own happiness, even in challenging times.

To be honest, I have mixed feelings about the looming return to the outside world.

Of course I miss our other 3 kids, my work, my friends and date nights with my hubby.

But I have really loved this time at home for all the reasons I’ve previously shared and for some fun and unique reasons too.

For example: I learned how to make no-bake desserts and Crockpot meals.

I finally watched the hilarious Schitt’s Creek on Netflix.

I discovered TikTok (which may or may not be a good thing, depending upon who you ask).

I rediscovered that invigorating high I get from running, even at a non-marathon pace.

I have learned to pause, slow down and appreciate the little things that bring me joy

You know what else brings me joy?

Chatting with kindred spirits like Andrea Robinson.

She inspired today’s affirmation moment, by the way.

We have so much in common that if it weren’t for the fact that we look nothing alike, I’d swear we were sisters

Seriously though, Andrea and I chatted for nearly 30 minutes yesterday – my longest episode of Conversations of Catherine yet!

WATCH NOW

If you don’t know, Andrea is a former local TV news anchor who left the profession to put family first (sound familiar?) and chase the joy she says was right in front of her.

Since then, she’s created The You Do You Journal for women designed to help us find gratitude, grace and the good around us

Even in challenging times, it does exist!

We chat about that and some simple but meaningful ways to begin the practice of gratitude journaling.

(Her journal is on sale right now on her website. Mother’s Day gift idea – just saying).

I know you will love her – and our conversation – every bit as much as I do
