This unforgettable evening was not only a love letter to Phoenix and all 11 cities from around the globe that make up the Phoenix Sister Cities program – but to our friends Oscar De las Salas and Gary Jackson.
They outdid themselves as the co-chairs of this sophisticated, beautifully elevated evening celebrating our pride and passion for diplomacy and friendship.
I had the immense pleasure of emceeing this sold out night where guests enjoyed an exquisite and delicious state dinner of flavors from around the globe, presented by the wildly talented Chef Markus Ford, while listening to international music by the The Phoenix Symphony Quartet.
Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego celebrated our city and the prestigious recipients of the Global Citizen Award:
To The Najafi Family – Francis and Dionne and Jahm and Cheryl.
And to Barrow Neurological Foundation – accepted by Dr. Mitch Sayare and Dr. Michael Lawton.
The collective words of acceptance by all the recipients were both personal and inspiring.
This was a night of culture, friendship, music and flavors from around the globe in the spirit of connection and community that is Phoenix Sister Cities, which for 55 years, has been building bridges across borders through its mission of peace through friendship.
