It is people like Matt Mahle, who personify resilience. He is one of the roughly half-a-million Arizonans facing ALS with more courage than we could ever imagine.
People like my Auntie Penny, who bravely fought this incurable disease for five years.
They are why I am honored every year to co-emcee (with the fabulous Larry Gaydos) the ALS Arizona Bite Nite.
It’s a night of fun, food, friends, and family.
It’s also about raising awareness and funds for research that offers patients and families the continued hope that we are closer to finding a cure for this horrific disease.
This year’s Boots & Bites theme brought out the cowboy hats, boots, denim, laughter and line-dancing.
This year we opened hearts with so much generosity – we set a new fundraising record of HALF A MILLION DOLLARS!
Thank you to everyone who made this year’s Bite Nite so incredibly special, especially my friends and family who continue to support me and this cause in a big way. It means the world to me, to ALS Arizona President and CEO Taryn Norley, her team, and everyone behind making this event an even bigger success, year after year.
As Matt so powerfully reminded everyone in the room this year, “This monster may take my ability to walk, talk, and touch but it will never take my ability to see, love, think and have fun. NEVER GIVE UP!!!!”
