Happy 95TH birthday to my amazing, strong, still sassy-as-ever Grandma,
What a gift to celebrate her at a surprise birthday dinner she didn’t expect but absolutely loved.
She’s as quick-witted and sharp as ever, and you could see how much it meant to her to have so many of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family all in one room—just for her.
That included her 100-year-old sister and her 98 and 89-year-old brothers!
My Grandma told me their mom lived to 93 and their Grandpa lived to 103.
Yes, the good genes definitely run deep in this family.
I’m named after my grandma, which makes moments like this feel even more special.
I asked her, as we were taking one of these pictures, to say I’m her favorite grandchild.
She laughed and replied, “You all want to be my favorite.”
To which my aunt shouted, “The first grandchild is always the favorite!”
“That would me,” I said, with a wink and a smile,
Recently, I asked her what she hopes her legacy will be.
She said she wants to be remembered for taking care of others when she could. “Whenever I can, I help,” she told me.
And she truly has.
Some of my happiest childhood memories were spent at her home during summers, holidays, and every special occasion in between.
We are so lucky to still have her, and I’m so grateful I got to celebrate this milestone with her,
