Happy 18th birthday to my son Christian!
Today I look up at the face of a young man who was once the boy I cradled in my arms.
Where oh where did 18 years go so quickly!
Christian, when I think back to the day you were born, I remember feeling absolute love, joy and hope.
You gave me hope at a time of such confusion in my life.
For those first 5 months it was just the two of us and that bond we forged is sometimes difficult to explain but might explain why I sometimes hold on too tight.
I have cheered for you.
I have protected you.
I have fought for you.
I have cried for you.
Every emotion you have ever felt, I have felt too.
When you’re excited, I’m excited.
When you’re sad, I’m sad.
When you are frustrated, I’m frustrated.
When you are happy, I’m happy.
It has been such a gift to watch you become the confident, kind and thoughtful person you are.
You’re 18 now, off to college soon, and I’m already an emotional wreck.
I’m so excited for you and the journey ahead as you embark on adulthood.
Always know that I am your biggest cheerleader.
I will always have your back.
I will always be here for you, every step of the way.
I haven’t always been perfect but I have loved you with everything I have.
You are and have always been a certain kind of special to me Christian, and it is an honor and a privilege to be your mother.

“I’ll love you forever,
I’ll like you for always,
as long as I’m living
my baby you’ll be.”

Happy 18th birthday Christian!
I Love you always,
