This October marks 35 years of a career in television.
Young Catherine – who preferred the name Cathy back then – chopped her long hair into a bob and started using her full first name that October of 1990.
I never would’ve imagined back then, that I’d still be working – all these years later – as a television journalist.
I was a fearless young woman who had no idea if I’d find success when I took that first morning anchor job in Weslaco, Texas, but I was determined to try and fail than to regret not having the courage to find out.
It’s been a wondrous journey filled with more opportunities, accomplishments, and career highs than young me ever visualized.
Would I change a few of the lows? Absolutely. But the beautiful thing about hitting a 35-year milestone, is knowing that in experiencing adversity, I discover just how resilient I truly am.
I don’t take any of it for granted.
