“Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors where there were only walls” – Joseph Campbell

I’ve bumped up against my fair share of closed doors.
But I’ve encountered plenty more doors that opened to bigger and better things.
I talk about both in Bold Journey Magazine, which graciously featured me in a new series called Portraits of Resilience.
These are inspiring conversations about learning to thrive beyond life’s challenges.
When I’m asked about where my resilience comes from, I reflect on the impact and trauma surrounding my parents’ divorce, the loneliness that comes with moving 12 times in six years, and how that directly influenced my desire to create the security – both professionally and personally – that I didn’t feel I had growing up.
I also share the three qualities that were most impactful in my journey, and some of the relationships that helped me along the way.
And, I answer the question of my biggest area of growth this past year.
Hint: It has everything thing to do with not having to be seen to be valued, and with being intentional about the energy I surround myself with.

Thank you Neil and the team at Bold Journey Magazine for including me in this special series.

I didn’t have a lot of women mentors coming up. So if sharing my stories can help even one person remember, they are not alone and that there is light at the end of every struggle, then I will keep sharing!
